Distant mushroom clouds appear and terror Strikes and the world has changed. Flash forward 2 years and now there is no gasoline, electricity, or phone service. The family is surviving in a post apocalyptic world where cannibals and gang rule. There lives turn upside down when they lose there father/husband but Mom takes over in his place and they trudge on. On the road they meet Joe (Jesus Lloveras) and he together there in search of a hidden Bunker full of food, medicine and other supplies. Along there way the trio get separated in the toxic chemical Clouds. Kate stumbles on a group of free loving hippies but when reunited with heart daughter decides to leave the safe compound. The world now is no place to be alone and it’s Kill or be killed as soon as Kate and her Daughter learn. Will they find happiness in this world or will they meet there deaths. Also like humans, black flowers can kill or they can heal. Things are often not as they seem. Atomic Apocalypse is a welcome addition to a tired genre of the end of the world movies. Like able characters and a great story keep things moving along. 

A simple story of survival is well acted out by our leads and also the supportive cast all bring a little humor, but never silly. Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of funny scenes but this movie is dark and gritty At the same time. It’s well balanced and beautifully shot from the opening Ariel shots to the excellently shot action shots. The cinematography is beautiful and also adds to the story effectively. Settings and costumes give the feel of despair. These people don’t go shopping at Walmart as so many of these movies do. No fancy boots and leather jackets. Fans of Mad Max and films of that nature will love the different approach here. A family survival movie that’s daring and not predictable at all. Highly recommended and and worth watching.
